What is a Compensator?

When you shoot a firearm there is a chemical reaction and explosion in which a projectile is launched through a barrel. The byproduct of this explosion is a bunch of hot gas following the projectile. This controlled explosion creates recoil and muzzle rise, which is a fancier way of saying the gun rises after it's shot.

A Compensator is a device that's usually attached at the end of a barrel. It's objective is to take those gases and redirect them in a way that is advantageous to the shooter. How you might ask? Well if the gases are directed in such a matter, it will actually help the user shoot flatter.

How do Compensators work?

Essentially, a compensator uses baffling and expansion chambers to trap the gas and redirect it.

Who uses Glock Compensators?

Just like most aftermarket accessories, they are made popular by the firearm platforms competitive shooters, and the compensator is no different. Made popular by its effectiveness in the competitive shooting world, it was then quickly adopted by many everyday range goers.

What are the benefits of using a compensator for your Glock?

1. Reduces muzzle rise

2. Quick follow up shots

3. Tighter groupings

4. You look cool

What makes a comp the best Glock compensator? (In my opinion)

1. Cost - It should be competitively priced. The highest priced compensator is not necessarily the best.

2. Installation - The Installation should be so quick and simple that someone with no armoring (is that a word?) experience be able to install it.

3. Fitment - It should not only attach with ease but it shouldn't ruin the barrel you're attaching it to. Most traditional comps use set screws to attach to the barrel, which has been known to mar up the barrel they are attached to and they aren't incredibly reliable.

4. Function - Does it work? Is there a noticeable difference between having it on and off? Check your follow up shots to give you the answer.

5. Design - Comps will add weight to the end of your pistol. But not all comps are created equal. Some will be heavier and chunkier than others. Also, does the design of the comp compliment the firearm it's installed on or does it look out of place?

The Tyrant Designs Glock T-Comp

When we first started designing our new Glock Compensator dubbed T-Comp, we considered a variety of different elements of what the "perfect comp" should look and function like. After countless months of R&D and prototyping, we had our T-Comp.

The T-Comp is the easiest installing comp on the market. Most comps are 1 piece of metal and use small set screws to attach to the barrel of the gun. The real ingenuity of the T-Comp is how it installs. Utilizing a 2 piece design, our T-Comp doesn't need to use set screws. In fact, it screws directly onto the barrel and is safe and secure. It won't move while shooting or holstering/unholstering your firearm. Installation can be done in a matter of seconds.

Each T-Comp has been designed to flow with the design language of the firearm it's designed for and has a high degree of customizability. Because you can change out the different internal piece which comes in black chrome, gold, or Nickel plated. We did all of that and still priced our comp for only $79.97-89.95 which is the least expensive high-end compensator on the market.

Tyrant Designs T-Comp now available for Glocks Gen 3,4,5 and Glock 43.
