We previously discussed the announcement of the Springfield Armory Echelon roughly 1 month ago. So far, it is turning out to be one of the biggest firearm debuts of 2023. There is a lot to like about the Echelon. If you missed our first blog post some of the highlights are a modular chassis design (like a SIG Sauer P320), it has a phenomenal striker-fire trigger (it is something you have to feel to believe), a revolutionary optics mounting system (VIS – Variable Interface System), and it is all bundled in a well-stippled package. As far as home-run products go, this is a grand slam! So much so that aftermarket companies are already looking at creative ways to customize this firearm. So, do you think we should start making customized components for the Echelon?
<If so, which ones? Let’s take a deep dive into the options for the Echelon. One of the many components that we already fabricate for a handful of handgun models are magazine extensions. With the Springfield Armory Echelon, the pistol comes with factory flush-fit 17-round magazines. Springfield does make slightly extended 20-round magazines for the Echelon, but could we do it better? Of course, we can! We’re known for making some of the sexiest gun components on the market today. So, to re-create a +3 or even +5 mag extension with more curb appeal would be right up our alley.
Some other pieces that would be a great complement to the aesthetic of the Echelon would be receiver pins and even a takedown lever. These, too, are all things we already manufacture for other brands so it would not be a stretch at all to do it for the Echelon as well. What is also close to receiver pins and a takedown lever in the disassembly process is the trigger. As we mentioned earlier, the Springfield Armory Echelon factory trigger is one of the best on the market today. Their assembly, transfer bar, and trigger are astounding. Since we would not want to reinvent the wheel on an already good thing, we could produce more attractive trigger shoes for the Echelon. This could match up well with other components and still retain the good travel and pull of the factory trigger.
The biggest undertaking for making some aftermarket parts for the Echelon might be if we decided to make replacement barrels. Would they be threaded? Possibly ported? Different finishes? Colors? The sky really is the limit, but again, we have done it for other companies. So, we could do it for the Springfield Armory Echelon. Be on the lookout for possibly new components. You just never know… In the end, make sure to get out there training, honing your craft, and getting reps with your firearms, and likely Tyrant can help you along the way with some rad accessories.
