Blog #173 / / NEW Springfield Armory SA-35 (Hi-Power)

POST DATE: Nov 10, 2021

Most of us who enjoy the quality components that Tyrant produces love our modern firearms. From the never-ending possibilities we have with customizing our AR-15 platform to the “Lego Block” of the handgun world in Glocks plus everything else in between. The newest tech and latest edge in defense and competition is our cup of coffee. That isn’t to say that we cannot like a good ol’ blast from the past which is exactly what Springfield Armory brought to the table with their New SA-35 9mm – an immaculate Hi-Power clone!

Ever since Browning and FN ceased production of their original Hi-Power models, shooters have been yearning and craving for them to bring them back. Well, an unlikely yet worthy candidate responded to the call in Springfield Armory by producing the SA-35 9mm. You might be wondering, “Why the SA-35 moniker?” Back when John Moses Browning originally invented the Hi-Power in 1935, it was nicknamed the P-35 so Springfield kept that nomenclature going by using SA (Springfield Armory) and the year it was made in ’35.

So, if the new Springfield Armory SA-35 is a Hi-Power remake, what is the McDonald’s secret sauce behind their pistol that is going to set it apart from the pistols of old?... For one thing, it boasts a forged frame and slide. This lends itself to having tighter tolerances which equates to more accuracy and better performance. Also, Springfield Armory went and beveled the magazine well ever so slightly so it is that much easier to make magazine insertions while on the move or more quickly. There are also smaller updates/changes to the stalwart Hi-Power design implemented by Springfield Armory in that the SA-35 features a recontoured hammer to help eliminate slide/hammer bite. Another improvement is the manual safety is extended so that the component is easier to manipulate while holding the pistol one-handed. You will also notice that there are more modern sights on the SA-35 with the addition of a white dot front and Tactical Rack rear sight which offers users an enhanced sight picture for improved performance. You also get magazines that are higher capacity than the original ones with 15-round magazines. Last, but not least would be the attractive and grip-enhancing checkered walnut grips.

I have been fortunate enough to shoot one of the SA-35 pistols already and it is a dream to shoot. I saw nearly hole-in-hole for an entire 15-round magazine which is incredibly impressive. If you have the opportunity to check out the NEW Springfield Armory SA-35 9mm (Hi-Power clone) you absolutely should.
