Welcome back to the 40th installment of my blog, in which I don’t claim to be an expert, in fact, the opposite. I’m a new user to the AR platform and want to share my findings and experiences as I go through and build rifles as well as being the Operations Manager at Tyrant Designs.

Three weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about the number of background checks we were currently at this year. I speculated on how I thought 2017 would be the second biggest gun purchase year after the record was set in 2016. It appears that my prediction might hold true. During black Friday this year, the FBI reported over 200,000 background checks were initiated. This essentially shattered 2016’s Black Friday numbers, which were 185,713 total background checks.

This doesn’t mean that all of those checks turn into firearm sales. I’m going to go out on a limb here and make the assumption more background checks equal more gun sales (that kind of insight is what an $80,000 college education gets you lol). So if we beat out 2016 in background checks, it's reasonable to assume this was the biggest black Friday for gun sales in the history of tracking these sorts of things.

It’s important to note that in nearly 20 different states, people that have a concealed carry permit are exempt from background checks. Meaning, there were probably many more sales that the FBI couldn’t track the statistics of. Essentially, Americans bought enough firearms on black Friday to arm the entire 182,000 active duty US Marines. Which I thought was pretty damn cool.

What firearms or firearm related accessories did you buy on Black Friday?

Who got a new AR-15?

And who on here is a new reader that purchased our new S&W M&P Shield 9mm/.40 cal +2 magazine extensions? BTW, I've played with them and they are sweeeeeeeeet.
