Blog #199 – ATN X-Sound Hearing Protection

When it comes to practicing and shooting at the gun range there are a few bare necessities that you need. Unsurprisingly, you need a firearm and ammunition. Outside those two glaringly obvious elements, you also need adequate hearing and eye protection. For some people who get really nerdy on their “eyes and ears,” there is a lot of neat, 21st-century technology out there for you to dabble in. One new and tremendous example of that are the recently released ATN X-Sound Hearing Protection Earmuffs. They might look similar to earmuffs you have seen in the past, but they have a lot of cool tech bundled up inside of them. Let’s dive in and check them out! The ATN X-Sound earmuffs are a slimmed-down version of traditional earmuffs. They are meant to have a smaller footprint on the side of your temple – your head – so by the end of the day you do not have the feeling like your cranium is being crushed or in a vice. This also means less of a footprint in your range bag and less weight to be toting around as well. All positive attributes. You also have an audio jack available to you so if you are rocking an iPod or even an old-school Walkman music device, you can hook them up to your earmuffs and have some tunes rocking while gunfire is canceled out at the firing line. Moreover, the new ATN X-Sound earmuffs have Bluetooth technology so you could pair your cellphone to the hearing protection as well. This could allow you to play music from your modern smartphone or even take phone calls if you have pressing business to attend to while you are shredding steel targets. Another great selling point is the matte green color. This might not be a big deal to some people, but having more of a neutral color is helpful when hunting because then you do not stick out like a sore thumb. Finally, these earmuffs are adjustable to fit a wide range of shooter statures. From smaller youth shooters, men, women, and even older folks, you can get a proper fit for everybody with these. I have had the opportunity to test out a pair of the ATN X-Sound earmuffs already and we had teenagers comfortably shooting with these on as well as middle-aged guys like myself. They perform well for everyone. So, while hearing protection might be an afterthought for many people, if you want to jump up to something with a bit more curb appeal and technology, the ATN X-Sound earmuffs are a good bet for anybody.
