Blog #197 – Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 10mm

Summer might have merely arrived, but a lot of people are setting their gaze towards fall. This includes warming thoughts of camping, hiking, and purposefully getting lost in nature in the backcountry. For the more adventurous folks among us, this may include carrying a sidearm for protection against wild animals like mountain lions, wolves, and/or bears depending on where you like to explore. If that mildly sums up you, then a new introduction from Springfield Armory could be right up your alley. They have just introduced a New XD-M Elite 4.5” OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) 10mm that can come factory-equipped (or not) with a Hex Dragonfly Red Dot. A perfect hunting or defensive firearm with capacity, an optic, and a cartridge that delivers power. What most people are looking for in a 10mm handgun is something that is high-capacity, is mild on felt-recoil for a hard-hitting round, and is accurate – the gun needs to hit its mark. Having already handled and shot one of these newly-introduced pistols, I can confidently state that this Springfield checks all of those boxes. The pistol totes 16 rounds of 10mm in its magazine with an additional round in the chamber. The large size of the firearm coupled with a red dot and a loaded magazine pushes the weight to 43.6 ounces mitigating the often harsh recoil of the 10mm cartridge considerably. What also is beneficial to the shooter is all the Match-Grade components that Springfield chose to utilize for this handgun. The XD-M Elite 10mm boasts their patented META Trigger (Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly) for a 4 ½ Lb trigger pull or less. The pistol also has a 4.5” Match-Grade crafted barrel for tight groups with practice ammunition like Full-Metal Jacket or defense/hunting rounds such as Hollow-Points. Another popular feature that all pistols seem to be jumping on board with is being optics-ready or optics-equipped. This XD-M Elite pistol is one of Springfield’s OSP variants meaning it is an Optical Sight Pistol – it is pre-cut to accept some of the most popular red dot optics on the market today. The edge that a red dot optic affords you is speed. You can engage targets much more quickly and acquire your sight picture infinitely faster than iron sights. Also, most optics ready pistols – including the XD-M Elite 10mm – will not inhibit your selection of a holster. For all those reasons, I would highly suggest that anyone who considers themselves an outdoor adventurer to check out this newly unveiled pistol in the XD-M Elite 4.5” OSP 10mm from Springfield Armory.
