For a year that has been a crazy, corkscrew of a roller-coaster it is finally drawing to a close. Hopefully we have all remained healthy and around these holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas we have been able to enjoy and spend more time with family. The end of the year also means the dawning of many new products within the firearm industry. While the annual show-and-tell event of the upcoming year has been cancelled – SHOT Show 2021 – that does not mean the new products from some of the industries most prominent manufacturers are going to stop. At the moment, we do not know all of the new firearms, gear, and accessories that will be unveiled next year, but one can guess, right? Let’s have some fun and look at the trends and common themes from this past year that could lead into what is to come.
Revolvers have seen a recent surge in popularity with the ability to adapt red dot sights more easily, rails underneath the barrel for more accessories, and more old favorites are being brought back as well as new cartridges. Colt has been bringing back a lot of their “Snake Guns” lately (Cobra, King Cobra, Python) which leads many to believe that the Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum could be next. Another trend we are seeing is 10mm chambered in more revolvers and a very easy company that could be accomplished with (who has not done it yet) is Taurus in their Raging Hunter series. Finally, another successful launch recently was the Ruger Wrangler. We could very well see an upgrade to that offering with a Ruger Super Wrangler fitted for multiple cylinders of .22 LR/.22 WMR at a slightly higher price-point.
Another trend is a recent abundance of new cartridges to the market with strong staying power. It is vague to say this, but we are likely to see an innumerable number of new guns chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor because it is still the darling round of the industry. Other fast favorites are the new 6mm ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) also invented by Hornady just like the 6.5 Creedmoor. Finally, a much slower cartridge that is suited well for hunters is the 350 Legend. It is very comparable in looks and size to a .30-30 Win round, but it knocks the socks off the old round and has been getting sportsmen around the US excited for more offerings in different platforms.
Another specific accessory item that should skyrocket in 2021 are braces. The ATF recently has been making a concerted effort to attack many manufacturers who make braces and/or braced firearms. This negative movement had been put on hold so to speak during the election, but looks to begin again soon. So, braces could have extremely high value in the next year if they are not eventually taken away.
Finally, something EVERYONE should have been able to predict… Tyrant Designs will always be churning out new products to make your life more efficient and fun – High Speed, Low Drag. While we have a lot of ideas under our hat for next year, we don’t want to spoil the fun until they are all ready.
