It is officially SHOT Show week for 2022 where innumerable manufacturers meet in Las Vegas for the industry’s show-n-tell event of the year for new products. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our own staff, we – Tyrant Designs CNC – did not attend this year, but we still wanted to bring you some news because we have other media partners who are currently at SHOT Show. There is a lot to take in at SHOT Show because of the vast expanse of booths, vendors, and people who flock to this show. One of the highlights that stuck out in our mind was a plate carrier from First Spear in the Strandhögg V3. In previous blog posts we have talked about the importance of training with a plate carrier to improve your cardiovascular health, but also as a means of protection and to carry essential gear. The First Spear Strandhögg V3 Plate Carrier is the pinnacle of what all plate carriers have to offer. Some of the secret sauce behind the Strandhögg V3 is its supremely lightweight design and rapid closure systems. This affords the user more freedom of movement because you are not weighed down by the plate carrier itself (only the gear you individually and personally elect to carry). The front panel also has an internal zippered admin pocket to keep valuables or smaller necessary items closer at hand. The back panel also has been newly redesigned for instant access so you can more swiftly adjust your cummerbund as your application needs change. The First Spear Strandhögg V3 is capable of carrying soft body armor and/or plates depending on your preference or task. What is also unique about this First Spear plate carrier that pushes it above the rest is that it is compatible with other cummerbunds offered by First Spear. So, you can couple it with lighter, lower-profile versions or even some that are accepting of body armor side plates. While the Strandhögg V3 is the third iteration of this continually improving plate carrier, the Strandhögg in general was the first plate carrier model ever created by First Spear. So, it has a tenured history of performance. In fact, US Marshalls use it as well as Miami, Dallas, Garland, and Los Angeles SWAT teams, too. In our humble eyes, if it is good enough for those elite practitioners of their craft and it has their stamp of approval, then it most assuredly is a sound choice for us.
