Welcome back to the 59th installment of my blog, in which I don’t claim to be an expert, in fact, the opposite. I’m a new user of the AR platform and want to share my findings and experiences as I go through and build rifles as well as being the Operations Manager at Tyrant Designs.

It is common phrase to hear the term “the second amendment gives the bill of rights teeth”. Nobody knows that better than an organization by the name of Don’t Comply. Who are they and what do they stand for? To understand this, we must go a little bit farther back to December 2014.

In December 2014, the city council of Dallas enacted Ordinance No. 29595. This makes it illegal to serve any type of food and beverage to the homeless without having to jump through a bunch of bureaucratic bull***t, like taking classes, getting permits, and paying fees.

Many reports said that after the ordinance had passed, police would shut down any type of larger scale charitable homeless food drives. This is where Don’t Comply come in.

Don’t Comply is comprised of charitable do-gooders who openly carried their AR-15’s and other firearms while handing out food, clothing, and shelter items to the homeless in Dallas. They are in open defiance of a questionable ordinance that seems to violate basic human rights. The act was not done to intimidate law enforcement but to assert rights while using the second amendment to protect them.

Every year since the ordinance passed, Don’t Comply runs an annual event called Feed The Need. Where they give out food and goods to the homeless while openly carrying. I think it’s a beautiful expression of our second amendment rights.
