Welcome back to the 36th installment of my blog, in which I don’t claim to be an expert, in fact the opposite. I’m a new user to the AR platform and want to share my findings and experiences as I go through and build rifles as well as being the Operations Manager at Tyrant Designs.

Being that we are a firearm accessories manufacturer, we always stay at the forefront of firearms related news in our home state of Illinois. On Tuesday October 18th 2017, multiple gun control bills were introduced by the House rules committee for a hearing. These bills blatantly violate our second amendment rights.

Here is a list of the bills being introduced at the legal rhetoric inside of them.

Senate Bill 1657 – Would create laws that mandated certain regulatory fees for FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealers. This would create more legal mumbo jumbo for these businesses to go through to sell firearms and firearm accessories. Big box retailers might be able to pay these additional costs but it might put your neighborhood gun store out of business. Let’s say you want to start your own local gun shop, if this bill was written into law, the fees associated with the business would be so high that the barrier to enter the market would be very unattainable.

House Bill 4107 – This bill would not only impose new registration on all current semi-automatic firearms and accessories but would out right ban some of them as well. It would also make a state wide ban on magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. You will receive a felony conviction of you are caught owning any magazines with a larger capacity than 10 rounds. In this bill is also a section that would make the purchasing, sale, and ownership of AR-15 accessories illegal. THINK ABOUT THAT! How would we operate?! Although this will more than likely not happen, it is scary to be forced to stare this down the barrel while we late for the House to decide what it can do.

House Bill 4112 – This bill will make trigger mod devices a felon-able offense, with sentences from 3 to 7 years in jail!

House Bill 4117 – Many of the popular trigger mod devices like binary triggers and bump stocks would be banned if this bill gets signed into law.

“But Cory, I don’t live in Illinois how does this effect me?” You selfish prick! Just kidding, but come on! I see people in gun forums knocking California and other pro gun control states where people live. I implore you to have some compassion for our brothers and sisters in other states. If we let certain states set a precedence then it is only a matter of time before all states begin to immolate the " new standard." Solidarity is key, we must stay united in our efforts in protecting our 2nd amendment rights. On our own we are weak but together we make “the people”, and it is our politicians that should be working for us and not the other way around.

Regardless of where you live, what do you think about this? Is this just the step in a nationwide gun control agenda or am I just being paranoid?
